Clinics

Practice Nurses

Our Practice Nurses hold regular clinics for Asthma, Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease and Hypertension.  The Practice is keen to ensure that you have access to the advice and treatments to maintain good health.  Regular check ups for these conditions can improve your health so it is important for patients in these categories to see the Nurse at least every 12 months or more often if you need more advice.  Please do your best to keep your appointments.

The Nurses’ duties also include travel injections, cervical smears and contraceptive advice.  They are available to see patients by appointment only. Please note: Some travel vaccinations will incur a fee.  Occupational vaccination will be invoiced prior to the vaccination programme commencing.

Immunisation Clinics

Your child’s vaccination will be booked by appointment.

Family Planning

A family planning service is available at the practice. Nurses can see patients for contraception pill-reviews and depo injections. Interested in long acting reversible contraception (intrauterine devices/Mirena/Nexplanon)? Please speak to Dr Head or Dr Brockbank.

Occupational Health Service

Market Street Medical Practice does not offer an occupational health service. It is the responsibility of the employer to determine risks to employees' health. If your employer believes it to be necessary eg Hepatitis B immunisation and you are not employed by the NHS, we can enter into a contract with your employer. He/she must pay the fee prior to the appointment being arranged.

Patients Over The Age of 75 Years

The practice will offer a consultation, if requested, to patients over 75 years who have not been seen by a GP in the previous 12 months. This will include a general health check.

Patients Not Seen Within Three Years

The practice will offer a consultation, if requested, to patients between 16 and 75 years, who have not attended surgery in the previous three years. This will include a general health check.

Travel Vaccinations

If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

Non-NHS Services

Some services offered fall outside the NHS contract and therefore attract charges.
