How to see the Doctor

Appointments can be made over the telephone or by calling into the surgery. Wherever possible you will be given an appointment to see the Doctor of your choice, as the surgery does promote continuity of care, especially for long-term or complex conditions. In certain circumstance you may be offered an appointment with another Doctor in the Practice.

Doctors appointments are at 15 minute intervals.

In May of 2022, we reverted back to our appointment system of being able to direct book face to face appointments, as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. We still offer urgent telephone consultations, where a GP will call you back and if you are needing to be seen, an appointment will be booked for you either that day or the following day. All GPs have a mixture of telephone and face to face consultations in their routine sessions.

We aim to:

    • Offer to see you the same day if your problem is urgent

    • Offer a consultation with your usual GP where continuity is appropriate

    • Offer a home visit for housebound or terminally ill patients

Please help us by:

    • Arriving on time for your appointment and checking in using the self check-in system

    • Being patient if the Doctor is running late- it is usually due to emergencies.

    • Letting us know in good time if you cannot keep your appointment.

    • Requesting home visits before 10.30 a.m.

    • Telling the receptionist the nature of your call if you request face to face contact, telephone contact or a home visit. You are, however, under no obligation to give this information if you do not wish to, but it may assist the Doctor in prioritising your call.
